Dana Gas sees Iran exports starting in 2009 ...

ABU DHABI, Feb 11 (Reuters)

The United Arab Emirates' Dana Gas expects long-delayed gas deliveries from Iran to start this year, the company's general manager said on Wednesday. "We should see supplies from Iran sometimes this year, God willing," Rashid al-Jarwan told reporters. In November, Iran's oil minister warned Tehran would use natural gas intended for export to the UAE domestically instead if the two sides failed to agree on a "fair" price in the long-delayed deal. Iran and Dana's parent company Crescent Petroleum initially agreed a deal in 2001 but prices have soared since and talks have stalled over pricing the gas. The initial agreement was for the supply of 600 million cubic feet per day. Iranian officials have often warned that Tehran may abandon the deal if it is not satisfied with the terms. Iran, the world's fourth-largest oil exporter, has been slow to develop gas exports despite its huge reserves, partly because of U.S. sanctions.
